Move Magento 2 website to new installation with other websites
Our client has one Magento 2 site set up. It is fairly new and not much activity on it yet. Now they want to set up another installation with a newer version of Magento 2 on it, with 4 websites on it including this existing one, so they will have 3 new sites and the existing one with the same domain but switched to a new installation. The theme will be different from the existing one.
Just wondering about moving a store from one installation to another. Codebase and theme are taken care of but wondering about the data - what data do we need to worry about. There are orders and customer data, as well as products. We could do a product export and import, but how about the rest? Will a database back up and restore suffice? Will it even work on a different version? How to transfer these and anything else I am forgetting about?
